Though we are sorry to see that summer is half over, we are excited about the plans that are taking shape for the new 2010-2011 season.
We will be launching our exciting calender of events with a garden party in a setting both ancient and historical.
The home of our Ambassador to Italy is on the grounds of the Villa of the Imperial Prefect of Rome and the site of the Villa of Scipio Africanus. The enormous gardens are bordered by the majestic aqueduct feeding into the Baths of Caracalla, an enchanting and magical site sure to delight everyone.
It will be an opportunity for our members who have not done so to meet James Fox, our Ambassador to Italy, and Mrs Nurys Estrella Fox. It will also showcase Canadians at their best; read on, you will see why.
The charity the CCR has chosen to support this season is truly a positive and engaging cause. The Wakefield Grannies are a group of Canadian women who for several years now, have been working hand in hand with Grandmothers in South Africa who are caring for young orphans who have lost their parents to the AIDS Pandemic.
What a worthwhile cause! This dedicated group of women, who after raising their own families, are now working with other women raising a new generation. They work in association with the Stephen Lewis Foundation. We will have special guests who are flying in from Canada through the generosity of AIR CANADA.
This promises to be an special evening on our calender of events so book early with Laurent Beaulieu at canadarome@gmail.com. Bookings will be taken until September 17, 2010.
Security: Please note that due to security requirements we will need the full name of each person attending at the time of booking. Also it is required that you have photo ID the evening of the event. Unfortunately anyone arriving without the required ID will be denied entrance.
