"Gun Island" by Amitav Ghosh (2019) is an entertaining story that links Bangladeshi and Venetian history, as the main character travels from New York to India to Venice. Although a bit scattered in parts, it covers many themes in a daredevil approach to story-telling. Themes include love, loss, refugees, and more. Read the Guardian review here.
