Memories of the Movies - Black and White

The movies have always had a bit of a love affair with the tram. Wither it was Buster Keaton dodging cops, Vivian Leigh taking that Street Car Named Desire to her destined encounter with Marlon Brandon or Judy Garland falling in love in long ago St Louis it all happened on a Hollywood tram! And Cinecittà was no different, from the comedy of Toto to the intensity of Lardi di bicelette the tram lines of Roma played their part in the romance of the movies.

There was a time not so long ago when Roma had the largest tram system in Italy - 59 lines covering more than 144 kms. Electric cars crisscrossed the city taking friends, family and young lovers to the movies, family dinners and special occasions. And the CCR is planning to relive the romance of those times for one magic evening as we wine, dine, dance and mingle on one of Rome's fantastic party trams.

Our theme for the night will be "Memories of the Movies - Black and White". CCR member and dear friend Sylvie Gagnon, owner of Around Rome, Tourist Services and Events has planned an evening dedicated to those wonderful old films. As the trams glides through the city, making a short stop at the Colosseum, we'll recall those days of romantic memories while creating memories of our own.
