¡La vida es un tango! Concert Evening - January 23, 2017

Off we go to South America again! Well, not literally, but this will still be a journey through the sounds and movements of Argentina to brighten our Roman winter. And our friends at the Vitala Festival have even reserved a special discount for CCR members to attend this evening of live music and dance.

The story of tango actually has its roots in late-19th century France, Germany and Italy, developing in Argentina with the arrival of immigrants from these nations. It then returned to Europe via the cafés of Paris and throughout Europe, to re-interpret the classical repertoire of Argentinian tango, in the 1920s with Gardel, Troilo and Di Sarli, and later with the tango nuevo of Rovira and Piazzolla.

The ensemble Tango Creación is considered among the most solid and complete performers of Argentinean tango on the national scene. This wonderful group can captivate all audiences, from tango experts to tango discoverers, with great  energy, elegance and passion. The Vitala Festival welcomes their fifth performance at Teatro San Genesio. They will be joined during a number of pieces by a pair of tango dance masters who placed third at the Argentinian Tango National Championship in Italy.

There will also be an optional buffet offering light dinner dishes, while your first drink is included in the ticket price.

Started in 2008 as a small band of English-speaking expats willing to risk face and build a local space for comic performances, the Comedy Club has grown out of various smaller venues and is now hosted at a proper dinner theatre club and attracts stand-up comedians from all over the world, in addition to the faithful local crew.

CCR members and friends will have their own table in prime position to enjoy their last show of the 2014-2015 season. Those who wish can order dinner à la carte, while others may simply have a drink with the show admission.

The line-up for this show will include two visiting comics from the UK:

- Gary Sansome

Synopsis:

Three thirty year old women are going through a sentimental and sexual crisis which devours them and precipitates into a hilarious comedy of misunderstandings.

What happens when Cecilia has to deal with her 30th birthday? That moment in her life when as a child she had imagined herself with a marvellous husband, three children and a dog…instead today she has to face her birthday as a single (still), in a depressing situation of precarious work, a fiancé that continues to postpone living together and responsibility, a brother who was abandoned at the altar, and her best friend Laura, heterosexual until a minute before who declares that she is hopelessly in love with Cecilia.

“It’s All Men’s Fault” is a funny tragedy where three thirty year old women comically search for a sentimental equilibrium. Cecilia searches for her answers in continuous amorous fiascos, Laura escapes from men by inventing a sudden homosexuality, Martina provokes her future husband with continuous emotional shocks to test whether he is marrying her for love or for inertia.

Three unsatisfied women, victims and carnage of their own men, to whom they attribute all types of blame, but tenderly and desperately in love with love for which they are ready to sacrifice everything for a miraculous sign that love does exist.

Please note that “Tutta colpa degli uomini” is in Italian.
