CCR Wine Tasting: Franciacorta - Italy’s Answer to Champagne - February 3, 2018

Franciacorta is made in the same way that winemakers in France make Champagne. Known as the ‘Method Champenoise’ or the ‘Traditional Method’ in Italy, Franciacorta produces bubbles by allowing a secondary fermentation to occur in the bottle. Franciacorta is made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, two classic Champagne varieties, plus Pinot Blanc. Produced in a small wine producing area in the Province of Brescia (Lombardy), Franciacorta’s uniqueness can be found in the Italian climate and soil. The result is an elegance and complexity not found in other Italian sparkling wines.

CCR Wine Tasting: The Excellence of Pinot Noir - November 11, 2017

As a follow-up to the last CCR wine tasting, we continue our Pinot Nero adventure. We will taste quality wines ranging from the traditional Pinot Noir vineyards in the north to a surprising tasting from the south.

Grown primarily in the cool higher-altitude vineyards of the North, it is the terroir that makes Pinot Nero ‘Italian.’ Pinot Nero is a notoriously difficult grape to grow. Despite this, wines from the Pinot Nero grape are among the most awarded and respected.

CCR Wine Tasting: Pinot Nero - May 13, 2017

Although Pinot's natural home is the Burgundy region of France, Pinot Noir (known as "Pinot Nero" in Italy) has a century-long history in Italy. Grown in the cool, higher-altitude vineyards of the North, it is the terroir that makes Pinot Nero ‘Italian.’ Hillside vineyards and a climate which is cool at night and warm and sunny during the day allow for the full ripening of the fruit without the development of any jammy flavours. Pinot Nero is a notoriously difficult grape to grow. Despite this, wines from the Pinot Nero grape can be some of the most awarded and respected.
