Canada 150 Gala - December 2, 2017

The Canadian Club of Rome is proud to present a gala evening to celebrate
 C A N A D A   150

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada and of course we're going to celebrate in style! After enjoying cocktails as we're welcomed into the elegant 17th-century Palazzo Falletti in the historic centre of Rome, we'll be having a formal, full-service dinner. Each table will be doted on by its own waiter in uniform. Excellent Casale del Giglio wines will be served at the table while Around You Banqueting will be providing a delicious meal as well as an Open Bar throughout the evening. A DJ will play relaxing background music during the dinner and rousing dance tunes afterwards so that we can trip the light fantastic! We won't forget our tradition of charity fundraising, either, and our raffle has some truly fantastic prizes, including two Air Canada tickets to any destination, fine wines, and more!

This event has been organized with the generous support of Air Canada.

Warm thanks to Casale del Giglio for their contributions.

CCR is cooperating with other international groups in Rome on "A Pop Up Holiday Cocktail & Toast to LoveItaly!" Become Part of Ancient History – Enlighten Future Generations.

Come to an exclusive evening set among world masterpieces within the prestigious Palazzo Corsini’s magnificent National Galleries of Ancient Art of Rome, once home to the Queen of Sweden, which promises to uplift you with Holiday spirit  and offer the possibility of a privileged private gallery tour including the MATTIA PRETI exhibit (Caravaggio’s successor). The event will spotlight LoveItaly!…a visionary, nonprofit crowdfunding platform helping spontaneous groups of people from all countries reach out and touch the future of a specific piece of Italy’s cultural heritage, funding and following its transformation back to splendor while trendsetting by example to encourage our world’s youth.

The beneficiary of the evening’s proceeds is the prestigious Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed il Restauro (Italy’s top stop for restoration), whose students will be responsible for carrying out the work.

Information on CCR's charity of choice for the 2011-2012 season

Ambassador Anne Leahy in Guinea
FIAG Onlus "Federazione Italiana Amici della Guinea" is a non-profit association which has been active for over ten years in Guinea, West Africa. The aim of the association is to promote and implement micro-projects that will improve the living conditions of Africans, especially in the areas of health care and education. Sanitary and health conditions are appalling in the country, with a  life expectancy of less than 50 years and a mortality rate of 90/1000 for children under one year old. Schooling conditions are also very poor at all levels, ranging from dilapidated structures to a complete lack of equipment and didactic material.

Over the years, FIAG has been able to carry-out a number of projects. Our association has built a small first-aid pavilion in a small village in the bush, rebuilt the roof of a school, supplied desks and chairs for a kindergarten, dug a well for a small village, subsidised schooling for promising students whose families do not have sufficient financial means, funded surgical operations for children affected with oesophagus burns (after accidentally drinking caustic acid), renovated a maternity ward in a hospital of the capital, granted its first micro-credit to a seamstress school teaching a trade to unwed mothers, and so on.

New roof built by FIAG for a local school

FIAG currently has approximately 50 members. Many have been able to witness the projects accomplished in Guinea through visits to the country and regular updates from its President, Dr. Maurizio Bagarani, who currently lives and works as a surgeon in Guinea. The association vows that every cent collected goes directly to fund its projects without intermediary or operational costs. A locally-appointed project manager is responsible for providing updates, pictures and financial reports.

Many more projects are being planned for the coming year, some requiring us to team up with other associations (joint ventures) in order to be able to secure sufficient means. We are grateful to the Canadian Club of Rome and are confident that, with its support during this upcoming season, FIAG will be able to carry out many worthy projects.
